Hey guys, I've been making money way too slowly in my mount and blade warband Vanilla games. At one time I was able to raise ridiculous amounts of money, but now It no longer seems to be the case. One of the most profitable things I found is to trade salt, spice and smoked fish (smoked fish can sometimes sell for a 300% profit) but It still feels rather sluggish. How do I kick ass as a trader or is trading not as efficient as, say, catching a whole buncha enemies and selling them? In essence, how do YOU start your calradia campaign?

Skills
There are a variety of skills that the player can build up in the game. You can view your skills on the Character page. Each of the 24 skills is classified into a category based on which of the 4 attributes (Strength, Agility, Intelligence, and Charisma) the skill is dependent on. Every three points that you have in an attribute increases the maximum number of points you can invest in a skill that is based on that attribute. For example, having 12 attribute points in Agility allows for a maximum of 4 points in skills like Weapon Master, Riding, and Athletics.
Skills can also be classified as either a personal, individual, or leader skill. Personal skills (like ironflesh and tactics) effect the stats of an individual character. Party skills (like Wound Treatment, Path-Finding, and Looting) effect how your party functions after battles and on the map. The level of the party skill is determined to be the highest level among the members of the party. However, if the player character has the highest party level Leader skills effect the party, but only the skill level of the party leader is taken into account.
The three ways that players can gain skill points are by leveling up, increasing the intelligence attribute, and reading skill books. Both leveling up and increasing the Intelligence attribute increase the number of skill points you can spend by 1. Reading a skill book increases the level of a specific skill by one point.
Here is a list of the skills and how they affect your character:
Strength
- Ironflesh: Each point to this skill increases hit points by +2 (Personal Skill).
- Power Strike: Each point to this skill increases melee damage by 8% (Personal Skill).
- Power Throw: Each point to this skill increases throwing damage by 10% (Personal Skill).
- Power Draw: Lets the character use more powerful bows. Each point to this skill (up to 4 plus the power-draw requirement of the bow) increases bow damage by 14% (Personal Skill).
Agility
- Weapon Master: Makes it easier to learn weapon proficiencies and increases maximum level of weapon proficiencies. Starting at 60 with 0 skill points in weapon master, the maximum value for proficiencies increases by 40 points for each skill point (Personal Skill).
- Shield: Decreases damage taken by shield (8% per level) and increases block speed and coverage (Personal Skill).
- Athletics: Increases movement speed (Personal Skill).
- Riding: Each level allows the player to ride horses of higher difficulty. This skill also increases mounted speed and maneuverability (Personal Skill).
- Horse Archery: Reduces damage and accuracy penalties for archery and throwing on horseback (Personal Skill).
Intelligence
- Looting: Increases the amount of loot gathered (by 10% for each level) after successful battles (Party Skill).

- Leadership: Every point increases the max number of soldiers you can command by 5, increases party morale, and lowers troop wages by 5% (Leader Skill).
